One of the greatest songwriters of all time, John Lennon, would have turned 70 today if he hadn’t been assassinated outside his New York apartment in 1980.
He was also an outspoken critic of the Vietnam War and a political activist, considered so dangerous to President Richard Nixon‘s 1972 re-election campaign that Nixon tried to have him deported.
It is in the spirit of that activism that I trust he will forgive me for associating him with Christine O’Donnell (the world’s only known surviving brain donor) by slightly altering the lyrics to his classic 1967 nonsense song, I Am The Walrus to reflect the absurdity of today’s political situation.
(Much to his dismay, Lennon found out afterward that the walrus from Lewis Carroll‘s Through the Looking Glass that inspired the song was actually a villain.)
I just couldn’t help but think of The Walrus as I watched this parody of the COD piece’s “I’m You” ad.
I Am You And Your Are Me
And We Are All Fucked Together…
See how they run like pigs from a gun
See how they fly
I’m crying…
